Catering Assistant

27.5 hours per week (06:30 to 12:00 Monday to Friday)

Term time only plus Inset day in September

Actual Salary: £12.71ph £14,960 per annum

We are looking for a Catering Assistant to support the smooth running of the school’s catering service, ensuring the preparation, serving, and clearing of food and refreshments for students and staff, while maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve hot and cold breakfast items to students each morning
• Supervise pupils during breakfast club, ensuring a safe and positive atmosphere
• Assist with the preparation and serving of meals and snacks to students and staff in accordance with menus and dietary requirements
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all catering areas, including kitchen and dining spaces
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and according to instructions
• Set up and clear down dining areas before and after service
• Assist with the receipt, storage, and rotation of food deliveries, ensuring all food safety standards are met
• Follow all health, safety, and food hygiene procedures, including allergen management
• Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors
• Work as part of a team to deliver a high-quality catering provision

Qualifications and Experience:

• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to work towards)
• Evidence of relevant food safety or catering training (desirable)
• Experience of working in a catering or food service environment (essential)
• Experience working in a school or similar setting (desirable)
