Curriculum

Our broad and balanced curriculum encourages students to dream bigger, extend their knowledge, and develop their character. Through clear routines, respectful relationships, and shared values, we create a safe, supportive environment in which every student is empowered to achieve their very best.

In the Sixth Form, our curriculum is built around choice, challenge, and opportunity — whatever your ambitions may be. We offer a growing range of courses, including new options such as Travel and Tourism, Vocational Business, and Applied Science.

Our pathways are flexible and designed to support individual goals. Our role is to ensure that every young person is on the right course, at the right level, and with the right support to excel. Class sizes are deliberately small, teachers are subject specialists, and our Sixth Form is large enough to offer real choice yet small enough for every student to feel known.

Whether you’re a vocational learner who thrives through applied study and continuous assessment, an academic learner who enjoys depth, stretch, and the challenge of major exams, or — like most students — a blend of both, we offer pathways suited to your strengths.

We believe all young people should be able to study subjects that reflect their interests, strengths, and aspirations. Students benefit from the flexibility to combine A Level and BTEC qualifications, allowing them to follow a curriculum that supports their goals while keeping future opportunities open.

Our Sixth Form provision is designed to meet the diverse needs of our community. Each student follows a personalised route to success — for some, this might be a traditional programme of three or four A Levels; for others, a blend of academic and vocational study is the most effective route to achievement.

We also offer Level 2 programmes: one-year courses for students who have not yet achieved a grade 4 in English or Mathematics. These programmes combine four days in school with one day in a work placement, helping students gain the experience, skills, and qualifications needed to progress to Level 3 study or employment.

In addition, we offer the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which develops independent research and critical thinking skills valued by universities and employers, as well as a T Level in Childcare, equivalent to three A Levels.

To study at Level 3, it is a legal requirement to hold a Grade 4 in either Maths or English GCSE. Students who do not yet have the required grade will need to re-sit the GCSE during Sixth Form, as these subjects are essential for future study and career opportunities.
