Big Bang Competition AwardPosted on: 18/03/2019
Year 13 student Callum, was selected from many hundreds of entrants nationwide, to showcase his solar powered bicycle project at the NEC BIG BANG Fair.
He was competing against over 200 finalists and he spent two days demonstrating and inspiring thousands of visitors. Supported by his classmate Bradley and KES students from the STEM club he worked hard to impress the judges.
At the awards ceremony, Callum was awarded the 'Colum McNally Cheeky Potato Award' for 'enthusiasm and charm'. This is in memory of Colum McNally, a previous Young Engineer of the Year winner (whose project was linked to potato farming) who has since lost his battle with cancer. Callum picked up a trophy and framed certificate plus a £100 prize with the proviso to spend it on having fun.
