Students reach semi-final of mooting competitionPosted on: 06/02/2019
Sixth Form students Rocsan and Tyler have been successful in reaching the semi-final of the Giles Wilson Mooting Competition.
A moot court competition simulates a court hearing in which participants analyse a problem, research the relevant law, prepare written submissions and then present their argument. The procedure is commonly used in legal training.
The KES teams consisted of Tyler and Rocsan and Nathaniel and Mariana, all of whom are taking Law at A Level. To reach this stage, the teams were required to deliver a legal argument opposing bail in a fictitious crime to a panel of solicitors who commented how impressed they were with their performances.
Of the nine school teams who entered, KES is one of four from the local area who proceed to the next round on 5 March where they will have to present another case to a panel, opposed by another team.We wish them good luck!
