Discover 2020 Winners

Posted on: 13/03/2020

We are very pleased to announce that one of our Year 7 tutor groups, 7BS, has won Rochford District council's Discover 2020 Festival competition to produce artwork commemorating the various local anniversaries in the area this year.

As reported in our February 10 news post, the festival which takes place this summer, celebrates anniversaries of the Charles Darwin ship launch, Ashingdon Parish church, Rochford Hall and the Canewdon Witch Trials. These are represented in the winning artwork which is to be featured in a poster for the event.

Thirty one students from 7BS have won a trip to Wallasea Island, copies of the poster and will meet the Chairman of Rochford Council and descendants of Darwin and Stokes, Simon Keynes and David Lort Philips as well as Lord Julian Hunt who represents the Fitzroy legacy.
