Primary Transition

The school has active links with all its contributory feeder schools, which involve a programme of co-operation and mutual support in teaching and learning.

KES staff and students engage in activities with primary children both in the primary schools and at KES. Children from the feeder primary schools are invited into the school on a regular basis for special events including WOW Days and school productions whilst Year 5 children visit the school for taster days.

To ensure a smooth transition between the primary and secondary stages of education, the Deputy Head, Head of Year 7 and the Special Needs Co-ordinator will visit the Year 6 children in their primary schools during the summer term.

All our new Year 7 students and their parents are invited to attend a welcome evening where they will have the opportunity to find out about uniform, tutor groups and key information. Students then attend an induction day with us where they spend the day getting to know the other students within their tutor group and their tutor.  Dates for transition events for September 2022 intake will be confirmed in due course.
