Design and Technology

Years 7, 8 and 9

A student in Design and Technology will follow a variety of technology subjects. These can involve food, textiles (soft materials), electrical systems, wood, plastic, metal craft and graphic design. By the end of Year 9, most students should have experienced these areas at least twice. In Food the products are made following aspects of the ‘Eatwell’ guide. In other units, design and making skills in wood, metal, textiles and plastics skills are learnt.  Students make items such as display or storage projects, fabric cover for a book or bunting, toy aliens, a maze game and iPod holders.
