Staff ProfileBack to Our Staff
I have been part of KES for over six years and it is the longest I’ve ever worked at any one place! The reason for this is the genuine passion and belief that every student can reach their personal best, that we are all in a pursuit of excellence. Excellence can present itself in many ways and I really enjoy being part of a team who are constantly evolving and evaluating our practice to ensure that we do the best we can for the students in our care.
I started my teaching career in a scheme which was then called, the Graduate Teacher Programme. This meant that I had only recently completed my degree and began working with students in lessons the following September. I studied Zoology at university and so chose to became a Science teacher, I quickly took on additional responsibility and went on to became a Head of Science. During this time I also completed my Masters Degree in Leadership and Management and decided that moving into the Senior Leadership Team would provide me with the opportunity to have an impact on a greater range of students.
I came to KES as an Assistant Headteacher in 2013 in charge of Interventions and Pupil Premium. When the post as Deputy Headteacher at the school became available I saw a fantastic chance to play a greater role in the school leadership. As Deputy Headteacher I oversee the Curriculum offered to students. This includes writing the timetable, KS3 and KS4 options and working with Heads of Faculty and other members of the team to provide the strategic direction required to give the best opportunity for students in their pursuit of excellence. I also still teach some Science.
